Recently I unearthed a few gems at Duxton Hill while going location hunting for our new fashion shoot. And the restaurant Broth is one of them. You feel you have stepped into another era and you can almost feel English gentlemen from Yorkshire will gather here for a leisure drink or 2.
The ceiling is extremely high with chandeliers and antique fans, plus its floor to ceiling windows, give the place a grand luxurious setting that is rare for restaurants here. The wine corner at the back which resembles a treasured library trove plus the dark wooden chairs give it a chic English vibe. There is a bar counter at the side with an old ice-kacang machine. An interesting mix of East and West I would say. This place really seems an intimate setting for a couple dinner or get together for close friends.
I was told by friendly Chunky, the restaurant manager there, that their specialty is Lamb Loin as well as Baby spinach and Portobello Mushroom Salad. For those with sweet tooth, he recommended the sticky date pudding as well as the supernova pavlova! Sounds yummy. I was quite apprehensive when I asked if we could borrow the place for a photo shoot. But Chunky said yes and he told their Australian boss believes in helping neighbours :) And they have been around for 11 years at Duxton Hill! Gosh, so they indeed have what it takes to establish themselves in the fickle and competitive F&B scene, far from the madding crowd.
You can always reserve a place with them (www.broth.com.sg) but they are closed on Sundays.
Look out for our new collection!
