Cheongsam chiffon top inspired by the perfume snuff bottle
A cheongsam top with a relaxed cut. It not only has a lower mandarin collar, the bottom is also semi fitted which makes it not too tight. Also comes in Emerald green and sensual red. Match it with jeans or pants for a chic oriental look.
When you flip over the embroidery, it has no traces of stitching except for ultra fine micro dots of less than 0.5mm. Our signature invisible stitching technique!
A precious snuff bottle with carvings at the Osaka Museum of Ceramics.
Inspired by a trip to the Osaka Musuem of Oriental Ceramics last November which had an exhibition of over 200 perfume snuff bottles that dates back to 200 years ago. These precious articles were elaborate artworks to appreciate and ostentatious displays of the owner’s wealth. The tiny bottles range from intricate painting inside a tiny layer of glass to complex colourful overlays on the glass bottle which require extremely minute skills.
Using our signature embroidery appliqué but this time underneath a layer of soft chiffon and organza, I also aim to mimic the intricate carvings and paintings in the snuff bottle.
Each piece of design requires the dedicated effort of a skilled team from the designer to the pattern maker, the seamstress right down to the artisans hand sewing the appliqué using our signature invisible stitching skills. With days devoted to completing each piece, it is similar to the precise techniques and respected skills used in the olden days to create a treasured snuff bottle.
